Highlights

► We present a simulator of interferometric laser imaging for droplet sizing experiments.

► Any imaging set-up is described in terms of ABCD transfer matrices.

► We design ILIDS set-ups for the characterization of droplets in a volume, or for microscopy configurations.

► The simulator allows the calibration of real time algorithms for droplet size determination.

Abstract

Using an original numerical simulator of ILIDS images, we propose and discuss the performances of different ILIDS configurations for microscopy, volumic 3D droplet characterization, and fringe frequency calibrations. This exact simulator offers important perspectives in the realization of complete ILIDS instruments and for in situ measurements.
